Early monsoon in Maharashtra! More and more of the lush green emerald rice fields bloom in Thane district. It's a lovely season for green nature photography.

This beautiful rice field is just outside Mumbai, near Vasai.
The startling green of the rice fields, the dramatic skies and farmers working in the fields, all have an unusual beauty.

The Roman Goddess

Flora fountain is one of the oldest monuments of Mumbai. It is located at just 5 minutes walking distance from Churchgate Station. This statue is made of Portland Stone.

The Roman Goddess statue is surrounded by plants and a fountain. It is beautifully decorated with lighting effects that glow the statue at night.

1st May is celebrated as Maharashtra Day. Maharashtra attained statehood on 1st of May, 1960 when the then state Bombay state was divided into two states, Maharashtra and Gujarat on the basis of different languages, Marathi and Gujarati, under the Saurashtra re-organization act. Maharashtra retained old capital Bombay, which was later renamed Mumbai.

Maharashtra is one of the largest states in India, both in terms of population and area. Its booming capital Mumbai, makes it not only one of the most important states, economically, but also a major gateway for overseas visitors.

In Mumbai, the Maharashtra Day celebrations are held at the Shivaji Park in central Mumbai. The governor of the state takes the salute at the ceremonial parade, comprising members of the state reserve police force, Brihanmumbai Commando Force, home guards, civil defence, fire brigade and city police.

Maharashtra Day, 2010 was celebrated as the 5oth anniversary. The Municipal Corporation Building (in this picture), and other heritage buildings like CST railway station etc. were illuminated. A sizzling laser show was held at the Girgaon chowpaty.

Bubble game

Nearly all of us have enjoyed playing with soap bubbles in the fleeting early days of childhood. These fragile bubbles of soap are so enchanting to watch and feel! When you blow soap bubbles, the slightest breeze carries them away. Watching those floating spheres generates a very soothing effect on our mind.

3 Idiots

Visiting spectacular places on week-ends is a real fun. People go out with families and enjoy outdoor adventures.

Some places are dangerous, and tourists need to be very careful.

Lions View Point near Lonavala is one such dangerous spot, though spectacular! It's nearly 1000 ft direct fall from the edge of the cliff. There is a precautionary warning message written on a board near the edge. Cold-drink vendors near the cliff also warn the over enthusiastic tourists. Still some over-smart, over-daring guys try to show off. These 3 idiots were terribly over-smart.
