My photographer friend Anwar Ali and I had planned to go to Sewri bay in Mumbai to shoot migrated Flamingoes. Flamingoes migrated from Rann of Kuchh are seen at Sewri bay from the beginning of November till the beginning of monsoon next year.
This was my second attempt to visit Sewri bay. Unfortunately we went there at low-tide time, hence we couldn't shoot the birds moving around far away from us. It was a beautiful winter morning at bay. Some more photographers also had come well-prepared to shoot Flamingoes. There were small steamers undergoing maintenance at both sides of the jetty. Sailors were enjoying good morning chat amongst themselves, and looked reluctant to work early in the morning.
We were disappointed for not getting good shots. On the way back we saw this guy performing yoga/offering prayers under a pipal tree near the jetty. We saw him against light and thought it could be a great subject for silhouette. Slightly arched pipal tree and the man with yoga posture gave a good sharp silhouette. Steamer and the boiler-smoke created a typical bay-side atmosphere in the frame.
I just love to shoot such pictures:-)
