In Mumbai you'll find a large number of stray dogs. Compassionate people feed them out of affection and sometimes even if they are not hungry :-)
Just a few years ago Mumbai was facing a problem similar to Australia's rabbit problem when the dogs here kept breeding. Well... like rabbits! Open garbage dumps and slums were the major factors contributing to the multiplication of the canine population.
Killing them was the obvious choice to control the population but that too proved ineffective as they were breeding at a rate faster than BMC could kill them. There were two dogs born for every one killed.
It's encouraging to know that High Court has come up with a ruling that says each of the thousands of housing societies must adopt one stray dogs roaming on the streets of Mumbai.
Killing of stray dogs is inhuman as they have as much right to live as we do and if you think about it, we are encroaching on their habitat as much they are on our streets. Being a complete novice at photography, I don't know what a DOF means, but that is a nice looking DOG for sure. :-)
